After losing her parents in a sudden accident, Elizabeth finds herself trapped by a law that prevents unmarried women from inheriting titles or wealth. Taking the advantage of the 1 year grace period for inheritance, she decides to run away with a fortune equivalent to 30 years of the empire’s budget. Determined to keep the family’s wealth from slipping away, the council schemes to marry her off to her uncle. But unwilling to wed a man who may have been behind her parents’ deaths, Elizabeth devises a bold plan. She disguises her maid as her fake fiancé and escapes to a place beyond her family’s reach, vowing to spend every last coin. On the day of the fake engagement party, Elizabeth ends up drunk and spends the night with a man who resembles her first love. At dawn, she scrambles to run away but that mysterious man refuses to let her go. Now, Elizabeth sets off on a ‘bankruptcy journey’ with the stranger she shared one night with. Will she manage to go bankrupt in peace?
